Colchester Student 1800 wiring diagram

I found this inside my Colchester Student 1800 lathe while doing a refurb and conversion to 240V.  Original hand-drawn wiring diagram.

Also this card with instructions about the GEC three-phase motor

  1. Hi
Just about to try and convert my Student 1800,from 3 phase to single phase if you have any pointers to help would be much appreciated.

  2. Hi how did your single phase conversion go? I’ve just been given a student 1800 and would love to get it running at home. I have a single phase 3kw inverter but wondered what you did with the rest of the switches etc.
Any help would be extremely grateful.
    Thanks
    Baz

  3. Thankyou very much for posting this, I am doing the same thing.
So I am looking to use the original gearbox front mounted starter lever. Did you manage to incorporate a reverse?
I have a GEC 1.5 kW single phase motor which is a little small but it will suffice.
    Cheers Mitch.

  4. Thank you for forwarding this. I will update it to a more modern layout if anyone is interested.
Are there any differences in the schematic for the Master 1600 and the Triumph 2000?
